A 2014 graduate of Foley High School, Tyler distinguished himself on the wrestling mat as a member of the 100 Wins Club, a multiple-time state placer, and a state finalist. His dedication, discipline, and passion for wrestling were evident in every match, inspiring teammates and creating bonds that lasted a lifetime. Those who wrestled alongside him remember Tyler not just as a competitor, but as a brother — loyal, supportive, and fiercely determined.
Beyond his athletic accomplishments, Tyler was known for his warmth, humor, and kindness. Friends recall the early connections made in childhood — the first friendships that remain etched in memory — and Tyler was that enduring friend to many. His ability to make others feel valued, his infectious smile, and his unwavering loyalty left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Tyler’s love extended to his family, especially his daughter Blakely, who was the light of his life. His parents, Julie and Kurt, his siblings Kylee and Tanner, and all members of the Funk family, along with his friends, feel the deep emptiness left by his passing.
